ScoutWise is an essential platform developed for Scouting Ireland to support the training, education, and upskilling of youth and adult members across the country. Designed as a centralised hub for information, policies, and programme materials, ScoutWise helps volunteers and leaders access vital resources while streamlining the management of events and scouting activities.

2Cubed was appointed to design and develop this important tool to support Scouting Ireland’s mission of delivering a safe, well-structured, and engaging programme to members of all ages and levels.

Project Objectives

• Create a user-friendly, content-rich website to serve as a central information and resource hub

Our Work

Custom Website Design and UX Strategy

We developed a clean and practical design that puts clarity, accessibility, and structured navigation first. The look and feel is modern and friendly while adhering to Scouting Ireland’s visual identity and guidelines. The design serves both youth and adult audiences, making it easy for all users to find the information they need—whether they’re looking for programme materials, safety documentation, or event info.

Structured Information Architecture

With such a wide variety of content—from training materials and policy documents to learning pathways and news—we designed a scalable, logical structure to ensure ease of use. Navigation is role-driven, helping different types of users (e.g., scout leaders, volunteers, programme facilitators) quickly locate relevant resources.

Resource Library & Document Management

One of the key features of the site is its centralised resource library, which houses downloadable PDFs, guides, training plans, and policy documents. We built a flexible categorisation system and custom templates to allow easy filtering and future expansion. The backend is designed so the ScoutWise team can update or reorganise resources as needed.

Custom WordPress Development

Built on WordPress, the site provides a secure, intuitive CMS for the internal team. Custom content blocks allow for consistent layouts across pages while reducing admin effort. News updates, event information, and training posts can all be created and published in just a few clicks.

Mobile and Accessibility Optimisation

We ensured the site is fully responsive across devices and compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility guidelines—critical for public and educational platforms. Features such as semantic HTML, accessible menus, alt-text, and clear text hierarchy were implemented as standard.

Ongoing Maintenance and Support

Post-launch, 2Cubed continues to support ScoutWise with software updates, backups, plugin management, and performance monitoring. The site is hosted in a secure WordPress environment and maintained as part of our ongoing SLA.

The new ScoutWise.ie is a valuable digital tool that empowers Scouting Ireland volunteers and members with easy access to training, programme materials, and essential resources. Designed to be future-proof and scalable, the site helps ensure that scouting programmes across the country are safe, consistent, and delivered to the highest standards.
